You all know you want to know how my typical day goes: Mike's Typical WDS Day )

Since this is now Sunday as this is being posted, and I forgot to finish it on Tuesday, I'll just post this much. It's kinda boring anyway. So yay for that.

Work yesterday was a good day. I was pretty tired when I got home though. So I cracked open a beer and hung out with Aaron for a bit.

After a while, I was in my room, just sorta surfin around the net, trying to find something to watch. I was hunting on iTunes, when I remembered reading about the very first feature length movie available for download legally on iTunes. Now, not wanting history to pass me buy, I felt I should purchase it, so that I can say that I downloaded the first movie ever, blah blah blah.

OK, so that's a lie. I really wanted to see it. It's called High School Musical. So I bought it on iTunes, and then sat Aaron and Seth down to watch it with me on the TV. It was so so so so cute. It's one of those movies that, when asked in public around people you don't know, you would betray it by saying, "Pfft... oh that movie? No way, I'd never watch that." Directly afterward though, you would run home, clutch it in your arms and say, "I'M SORRY!! I'M SO SO SORRY!!"

It doesn't come out on DVD until May 28th, and it is only available on iTunes for $9.99 right now. But if you want a totally cute, totally campy musical, seriously - watch High School Musical.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be... um.... watching football and um... yea... footba.....

*runs off singing* no no NO! Stick to the stuff you know-woooh-ohhhh

So, I'm working on a 'day-in-the-life' update from work... cause I know you guys are just DYING to know about tech-support, hehe. But I just had to put this up... I was reading an article on the most 'controversial' video game ads in GamePro. Here is the link... take a notice at the first ad. I remember looking at that ad for hours on end. I, of course, discarded the left had side of the page... no need for that. Ahh, memories.

Today is the 10th! This is a normal day, but it also means that since I have showed up on time to all of my shifts for over a month, I get a nice bonus on my next check! WOO! This is very exciting to me!

So yesterday I decided, in homage to Kingdom Hearts II, wear black and white bands around my middle and index fingers. I am going to do this until I beat the game (so, figure about 2 1/2 years, if we use the 'Mike trying to beat KH1' timeline.... damn you Kurt Zisa!!) Does this make me a total nerd? Uhh, yea. Proud of it!

Work has been like an ocean of business (is that right, for busy-ness? Oh well.). It's busy for like, 2 hours, and then it's like a ghost town for an hour. Then it's like, 100,000,000 million calls, then it's like, 3 calls. Schitzo queue. That's what I call it.

So I have no real point to this update other than the above. I'm gonna go sit and wait for another call to come in now.

So Lin-da-say came over last night and we watched Rent. I love the alternate ending so much.

It's like opening up a tub of margarine, and discovering that you are the first one to use it. Slowly lowering your butter knife into that perfect whipped crown and slowly dragging it across it's surface, pretending you are in a commercial, saying aloud how creamy and smooth it tastes.

That's what the alternate ending is like.

And that is really all I have to say. And yes, I was just looking for an excuse to make that metaphor, thankyouverymuch.

Nice Sunday today. Not too many calls, which I love. Makes the day seem so much nicer when I don't have to talk to 800 people about how Activesync doesn't work.

Weekend was good, Lance, Steph, and I went and saw 'Private Lives' last night, a very entertaining show set in the 20's. My stomach was sort of wonky off and on, but some soda helped that a bit. Afterward we had food at the Hurricane, watched Skydiving videos and Drawn Together. Mucho funo.

Other than that, weekend was nice. Tried to catch up on sleep, but I can't seem to get on top of it. I am going to try and go to bed early tonight and see if that helps.

I should find out the results of my shift bid tomorrow. I am excited to find out what shift I will be getting.

So, that's really all I can think of. Boring, I know. :)

Yay for work. (kind of).

It's been a very up and down day. This morning I felt like death slightly toasted over a wheat cracker. I would have given anything to sleep in and not go to work today, but I'm working on my attendance here (plus, I get $300 on my next check if I have perfect attendance over the next 4 weeks, so that's a nice incentive). Calls this morning were bad and good, off and on. Had a team meeting, which was nice, very productive. Also had a one on one, where my boss pretty much told me that I will be moving 'up' soon (not sure if this is good or bad). We are moving 20+ people out of my center, and hiring like, 25 more, so that gives me almost instant senority in the pooled center, which will be nice. I can not wait to go home today though.

We watched "28 Days" last night, cute movie. Also watched my fix of "Deal or No Deal", which I don't care what anyone says, that is a good show. Howie Mandel is probably beside himself, he has a career again!!

So... um... I am gonna go drink like, 3 more bottles of water (I've already had like, 5 today) and finish up work. One more hour to go!

*sigh*

So yea, again, not updating for a while. I'm bad. But now I downloaded Semagic at work, so there is some incentive.

Speaking of work, that's where I am right now! WOO! Not really. We've had like, 5 people quit in the last week, and it's going to kill our service levels. But that stuff is boring, who cares.

I got a new TV! YAY! It's a 92'' HDTV Projector (Optima DV10) and it came with a nice 92" screen to display it on. It looks awesome in the living room. Watching movies is the coolest now, cause it's like having my very own theater. Now I just have to get some nice speakers to go along with it, but that may be a while. I got an AMAZING deal on the projector and screen (cause I is broke). Like, so good of a deal, that I had to wait over 20 minutes for a manager at the store to validate what I was getting for the cost, because they thought that I was bluffing or something. The salesman was really pissed at me, because it meant that he wasn't getting any commission or anything, and he was like, "Um, you have to come back and buy something from me later, because I made this happen for you." I was like, "Um, nothing. I found a link on your site that clearly marked this price, and you will give it to me or I will devour your soul." It still meant that I didn't have money for like, 2 weeks, but it was worth it.

Hmmm, what else what else what else. Work mostly. And some stuff inbetween.

lantsenLance and stuffyr7Steph came up this last weekend, and we went to the Children's Theater, we saw "Peter and the Wolf" and "The Devil and Daniel Webster". Really good shows, I liked "The Devil" better though, more mature theme and really really good acting. Is it bad that I want to totally get some of the actors phone numbers after the show? Like, "Hey Jabez Stone... you looked good up there. Can you autograph my program with your number?" (And no, the actors are not children, they are adults, pervs... some pretty hot adults I might add).

I went to Omaha a while back to visit a good friend of mine, which was a lot of fun. Omaha reminds me a lot of Spokane in a lot of ways, weather, size, people... it was almost kinda funny walking around town going, "Wow, it's just like Spokane, only with big train buildings and a lot of farmers." It was a great trip though, and a nice break from work.

Fun stuff on the horizon... um, well, it's March now, and my 'fake' birthday came and went. I didn't even realize it was my 'birthday' (for those that don't know, my driver's license is wrong. Instead of 5/3/83 [my real b-day], they put 3/5/82) until someone said, "Oh, happy birthday!" when they looked at my ID. It's still weird to think that I will be 24 in May. Ehh. One year a way from being able to rent a car.

I have an urge to take a totally random trip. Like, blow my next check on something really stupid, like last minute airfare to Europe for as cheap as I can find it, and go to Amsterdam. Who knows, maybe I will (yea right).

So, with that, I go to my last break of the day.

Ahh, the last day of January. It's such a special day. Not really.

So I am sitting in work. It's an hour and a half until our T-Mobile queue opens up, so it's not too busy at the moment, but that will change at 10:00, no doubt. It's going to take me a bit to get used to 10 hour days. Plus, the fact that I worked M-F last week, and then only got one day off before working 4 10 hour shifts doesn't make it any easier. Other than that, work is going well.

Last night, [info]upsidedownlemur and I went on a hot date. :) We ate dinner at the Fox Sports Grill where I had some really good (but very spicy) Orange Chicken. Then we went and saw "The Matador" with Pierce Brosnan. Cute movie. Had some really good dialogue. Then we walked back to the Ferry Terminal where we bumped into [info]littlelou's mom and gang, then hung out at McDonalds, ate french fries, and talked about old 80's TV shows and doing drag. It was very random, and very fun!

2 days of work left until my weekend, and I am very very excited. I'm going to sleep, like, the whole time! It will be awesome!

So that's just a little update. Hope all is well with everyone out there in LJ land!

Oh, and in case you are wondering, the title of this post should ensure that song gets stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Hey, if I am stuck with it, then you have to as well.

Today was a fun day. :)

Our friend Julie is in town, and Seth, Julie, and I went out and saw Transamerica. Great film, Felicity Huffman totally deserved that Golden Globe. Good show. We came home, hung around, didn't do much, and then Eric, Julie's friend came over, and we went out to eat. We went to Todai, which is a sushi and seafood buffet. Now, those that know me, know how I feel about seafood. However, Julie, Seth, and Aaron all love seafood, so I decided I would go along. Besides, as Aaron pointed out to me on their menu online, there was other stuff I could eat. Sweet and Sour Pork, Orange Chicken, Caesar Salad, Barbequed Pork, ect. Well, their menu online was GROSSLY misleading. The only thing there I could eat was Teriyaki Chicken and Orange Chicken. The Orange Chicken, I will say, was excellent. While I still prefer Panda Express, it was still very good. The boys and girl, however, they seemed to really enjoy it. Lobster, crab legs, all you can eat sushi, all sorts of nasty stuff like that. We were there for a good 2 hours, and I kept having to go to the bathroom because the smell of seafood was so overpowering that it was making me nauseous.

So yea, it was a fun day, hanging out w/ the gang. :) Just hanging out at home now, had a couple shots, will probably just crash soon, I is sleepy. :) Hope all is well w/ everyone!

OK OK, I know. Long time again. I really am trying to get better at posting again.

Things are going well here in Seattle! I just got a promotion at work. I no longer work for Verizon Wireless. I now work for T-Mobile, Cingular (International and US), FiDo, Cincinnati Bell, GANAG, SwissCom, CellularOne, Microsoft Start Services and Microsoft Exchange 2003 SP2 Feature Pack, Motorola, and PhoneSync. Basically, I got promoted to our 'pooled' center, which houses several contracts with several major companies to provide Tier 3 Data Support for them. It's really cool, I already knew TONS about the CDMA side of cellular, and now I get to learn about the GSM side, which has some similarities, but some very major differences. I've been in training for almost 2 weeks, and I start on Monday on a new schedule! What sucks is that I don't know what that is, and I am supposed to start it in less than 3 days. The good news is that I have the highest senority in our training group, so I get to pick the shift, so I think what I am going to get is 7 AM - 6 PM: Sun - Wed. 4 10's! The best shift ever! OK, so enough about work.

I also got a new cell phone! I got a T-Mobile Sidekick II, and I freaking love it. Text and MMS messaging, full web browsing, AIM and Y! IM clients, up to 4 external 3-mail addresses, calendar, contacts, notes, to-do, memos... this thing has it all (except bluetooth... a mistake if you ask me). As of right now, it is going to be data only for me (which means you all should e-mail lilmikey@gmail.com and send me SMS messages to 206-355-0419 a lot!), but eventually it will take over and be my main number, though that may not happen for a couple of weeks. Here's the story:

Because our company does T-Mobile's Tier 3 support, we are extended the employee discount, even though we do not directly work for T-Mobile. It works like this:

1000 AnyTime minutes
1000 Text messages
100 MMS messages
Unlimited WAP data
Free Long Distance

Grand total? $20.00 a month. Talk about a deal! So I'm going to dump Cingular and go strictly on T-Mobile with my Sidekick. But the paperwork takes time, so like I said, for now, it's going to be data only for me. If you want to text me though, I would love it! 206-355-0419 is how to get a hold of me! Plus, my e-mail is lilmikey1982@tmail.com (direct to Sidekick) and lilmikey@gmail.com (both to Sidekick and to my GMail).

Random side note: what is everyone doing on May 4th? If you live in the Seattle area (Spokane included), then you need to free up that date, because we are all going out for my birthday (which is the 3rd, the night before). What are we doing you may ask? We are going to see the opening night of VAREKAI, by Cirque Du Soleil! I'm making it official now. So please text me, e-mail me, or just respond saying you'll come, because I would LOVE to have you there! It will be an AMAZING show, to be sure, and I want to be able to order all the tickets together so we can sit in a group. :)

Other than that, not too much exciting going on. Same old, same old. I am really going to try and post again soon! Time to revive the 'ol journal! I love you all!

Well, here I am sitting at home. "But Mike," you may ask, "Don't you have work?" I should, yes! However, I have Pink Eye, and am very contageous. NO fun. So instead, I get to stay home and not get paid. Also not fun, but better than infecting everyone around me. My supervisor said that I should get a doctors note, so it won't count against me as far as attendance goes. I'd love to do that, but they have to give me insurance first, and since I don't have any, I won't be able to get that. Oh well, I'm looking for a new job anyway. So today (and probably tomorrow too), I'll just work on my resume and finding jobs! WOO!

I haven't updated in a while, things have been a little crazy, and I wasn't quite sure how to voice them. Instead, I'm just going to type stuff that's been going on. Hey, what a concept!

Some of you have already heard, either from me, from Seth, or through the grapevine, but it is true that Seth and I are not together anymore. His feelings just changed, and that is OK. It happens. We are still awesome friends, and that won't change. We are still living together, at least until January that way I have time to find an apt and everything. It's been difficult, but break ups are never easy, so I'm taking it in stride. I still love him, and always will, but when things don't work out, there is no point in letting it ruin your life. At least we still have our friendship. :)

Work has been good, I'm the best rep on my team, and it would be great if my new supervisor would recoginize that, but he and the rest of the management at WDS have decided that "Oh, we told all the temp people that we would hire them on full time after 3 months, but we can only do it 10 people at a time, and only every 30 days." It's a freaking joke, and I was passed over again this round. Normally I would just wait, but a guy that I sit next to has been with the company since April, and still hasn't been moved from Temp to Perm. I'm not holding my breath it's going to happen any time soon. So I'm looking for a new job. This one is not awful, but like I said, the management is a joke. Besides, I got paid Tier 2 Tech Support training. That's a nice one for the resume.

On Friday, Seth, Aaron, and I went to go see Harry Potter at the Cinerama. I was so excited, I just couldn't wait. I figured, opening night, it was going to be really packed, so we got there at 9:30 for the 11:30 show. Not a soul in line. I felt kinda stupid. LOL. So, after wandering around downtown trying to find a bar that wasn't too nice or too dive-y, we ended up at The Hurricane and had fries and drinks. By the time we got done there, it was 10:30, and oh guess what! The line for the movie was all the way around the block. To make matters worse, somewhere between The Hurricane and Cinerama, I lost one of the movie tickets. Luckily it wasn't sold out yet, and I was able to get another ticket. That sucked. But the movie was great. I can't wait to see it like, 20 more times!

Lance came over on Saturday, and we rented Battlefront 2 and just hung out. It was really fun, just like old times (sans the big TV, which I miss!). Hung out, drank wine and beer, ordered pizza, and beat Battlefront. It was great.

My character hit 40 on WoW (takes me forever to level), so I got my mount. It's nice to not have to run from one end of Stranglethorn Vale to the other (takes FOREVER!), and just be able to travel faster. Plus, it was FREE (well, Warlocks have to spend a lot of cash to train pets, so we paid for it over time, I like to say). If anyone is playing on the Bronzebeard server, let me know. I'm also thinking of starting another character, so if any of you are playing on a different server, let me know, I'll come join ya!

Well, I'm going to do some laundry and update my resume so I can find a new job! I think I'll go toss one down at Volt, they usually have some good tech-y jobs available.

Current Mood: Pink Eye-y

*yawn*

Work today has been boring. Nothing too exciting, same old same old.

It's Monday, but technically my Thursday, so weekend (for me) is almost here. I'm excited, because it's my last non-weekend, weekend.

I'm really excited to go skydiving again, but a little nervous to do the pulling of the cord myself. I can do it, though, and it'll be awesome! Plus, Seth and Aaron will be there for support. (BTW, if anyone wants to go with us, you are more than welcome, we haven't set a date yet, so just leave me a comment and we'll hammer [time] something out).

I need to get a haircut and clip my nails.

Apparently, according to Seth and Lucinda, I need to clean my desk. I think it's very.... personalized. :-D

We need to get Bucky a friend.

I'm going to buy a sewing machine. Just think of the possibilities! I can make my own clothes! Talk about CONVIENENCE! It will be great. I won't have to shop anymore, which saves me all that hassle, plus I can design my own styles that I like! I mean, sure, I don't know the first f*cking thing about sewing, but I'm sure they have some sort of help line, right? Pfft, if I have any problems, I'll just call them! It'll be great, I'll have them walk me through making all KINDS of things, jeans, sweaters, ect. I can't wait to start making my own clothes!

This is how I view a lot of the people who call into my center. They do not know the first thing about computers. Nothing. So what do they do? They go out and buy the most advanced PDA phone that money can buy. Sure, they don't know how to use it, but it's going to save them so much time and money, how can they refuse!?

So when people call into my center and want to do a, b, anc c, and I say, "OK, let's choose 'Start'..." and they go, "Wait, where is that at?", I feel a little piece of me dying inside.

So I'm here at work, fixing peoples phones like you know I like to do. WOO.

I can not wait until my schedule changes. Right now I work Friday - Tuesday, 11:30 - 8:30 P.M. Starting on Oct 16th, I switch to M-F, 7-4. It's early, yes. But at least I'll have afternoons to actually do something and have weekends off like a normal person. It sucks having to work on weekends when Seth has them off, cause then we never get to do stuff. So I'm really excited about this.

Hopefully my schedule change will kick my 'social' issues that I've been having lately. It's not that I don't like doing social things and hanging out a lot, it's just been really hard lately, I haven't had the 'oomf' that I normally have. Plus, by the time I get home from work, it's 9:00 anyway, so everyone is sort of in for the evening. Now that the days are getting shorter, my SAD is gonna start kicking in again, which I hate. This time I'm not going to take any meds for it though. Last time I was on Prozac, which totally killed my sex drive and didn't really make me feel any better. I think instead, I'll go tanning, as the lights seem to really improve mood (or so I have read). As long as I don't burn like I used to. Ow.

Seth and Aaron are going skydiving again today. I really wanted to go, but I have to work (see why my schedule sucks?!). They are starting their tandem series, so instead of being strapped to the instructor, the instructor is strapped to them. They check the altitude, pull the cord, navigate the chute, everything. SCARY. I'd be able to do it, sure, but I think I may want to try one more tandem jump before I try that. Heh.

Things with Seth and I have been going really good, I love him tons and tons :-D Aaron and Jason are also doing well, which is a big YAY! FreakNight is coming up, and I really want to go this year, as Paul Oakenfold and The Crystal Method will be there, plus it's supposed to be a huge freakin party. It's at Quest Field this year, so I could totally just walk down there and back. :) Anyone want to try and go? It's the 29th of this month. Plus, my apt is totally within walking distance of the arena, so yea.

Sad final note: I've caught a cold. It's a nasty one (OW... They're all pointy now..."), and I've been going through my share of cough drops and tissues. I'm all plugged up, which is a huge plus for a phone rep. "Dank you bor calling Verizon Wiredess dada subbort..."

I'm watching this hilarious video of a 70's sex tape of people talking about sex. In one scene, a mom walks in on her son masturbating, and she says,

"Oh Ricky, Oh. I'm sorry. Ricky, I saw what you were doing, it felt good, didn't it? Well, sometime soon we'll have to talk about what you were doing, and why it felt good. I'm very glad that you decided to do this in the privacy of your own room, and I'm sorry I interrupted your privacy. I'll be sure to knock next time."

An interesting response. Whereas my mother and my grandmother said the following upon discovering my 'self-pleasure' habits:

"Michael! What do you think you are doing? Do you know that is a sin?! Come with me young man, we need to have a talk about what you just did!"

After stating this, we went on a long drive, where my mother (and one other time, my grandmother), explained to me why what I was doing was very very wrong, and pointed out several bible verses that backed up that view. And I felt remorse. Bitter, bitter remorse.

It brings up an interesting point, one I want to ask all of you:

Have you ever been caught masturbating by your parents/relatives/friends/loved ones? If so, what was the response?

Ya know, it's funny. I'm in Tier 2 Technical Support... you would think that when people call in with a problem, they would recognize that THEY are the ones needing MY assistance. However, this is not the case in some instances. The last call I had was a great example.

This lady called in with a problem connecting to her laptop with her cell phone so she could browse the net. It wasn't working, plain and simple, and my theory was that it was a computer problem. She kept mentioning that she called in a couple of days ago and was talking to another rep named *****. She kept DEMANDING to talk to him, to get transferred to him. Well, we don't do internal transfers, it's not how our system is set up. It's just not. I offered to assist her, but she just kept screaming, literally screaming at me about how I am so stupid and that she wants to talk to ****, because he's the highest tech support. I kept trying to explain to her that I am also the highest tech support, but that wasn't good enough.

Like a good rep should, I went about fixing her problem, amid the screams and the tears (yes, she was yelling and crying all at the same time). Finally, while talking with one of my leads about the problem, she disconnected the call.

The call just made me think, "Wow, it's really amazing to me how many people call in and think that they are going to get better service when they yell and scream and make a huge fuss about it."

When people call in to me, and are nice, friendly, patient, and understanding, I am MUCH more likely to take that extra step to fix the problem than if they call me stupid and scream at me. Yet, this is how we think this is the only way to get the problem fixed.

So to all of you who call in to a call center for tech support, remember that the rep on the other end will be much nicer to you and help you a lot more in the long run if you are super nice and friendly to them. Unless you get India. Then let loose.

*sigh* Time goes SOOO fast!

Work has been great, really picking it up quickly and my supe has already pulled me aside to tell me that I have definately proved myself in his eyes and wants to put new reps next to me as an example. *does a dance* It's suprisingly gratifying helping people setup their cell phones to do all sorts of stuff they never knew they could do.

Aaron, Jason, Seth, and I had scheduled a skydive for this weekend, and we were REALLY looking forward to it, especially because the weather has been so fantastic, we figured no better time. Well, Saturday morning (we were scheduled to jump at around 10 or so) was REALLY cloudy. We got up at 6:30, got out to the field, went through the class, and while we did this, the clouds seemed to get a little thinner, but there was still a heavy cloud cover over Snohomish. We waited and waited, watching skydiving videos and getting pumped up the whole time, when finally, the owner told us that it wasn't going to break in time, and that we would have to reschedule.

Were we bummed? Yea, extremely. To add insult to injury, by the time we got back up to First Hill, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was 90+ degrees. What a slap in the face. So we rescheduled for this morning (Sunday). Again, got up early, went out to the field, and waited around for a bit, not near as long this time. Again, we had to reschedule. The cloud cover was just too thick and it didn't look like it was going to break. Today it's stuck around a lot longer, so I don't feel as bad knowing that EVERYONE probably had to reschedule, but it still sucks because we were so excited.

So we recheduled for NEXT Sunday, making sure to pick an afternoon time so we wouldn't have to deal with early morning cloud cover. Everyone cross your fingers and hope that we can actually do it this time.

Bucky, our kitty, is also doing great, he's a little mooch and LOVES to try and get our food. He watches our faces and looks for the moment we might not be paying attention and BAM! He strikes. This was how he scored a HUGE piece of beef jerky from my desk while I was playing WoW. Little sneak. But he's so cute.

Aaron started at BoA, and Seth's really getting into the swing of his job here with me at WDS. I go down and see him on my breaks, and he's a total pro already. We are doing really great, and I love living with him. :) It's so nice to be able to come home and know that he's going to be there, or if he's not, I know he will be soon. I love him so much. Sadly, it's been too hot to cuddle at night, so I am really looking forward to when it cools down a lot. :) We've been SO busy with work and other stuff that it seems like there isn't much time to do anything else! We've been trying to up our overtime hours, because there are contests at work and the money is great.

Hmm, what else. Aside from that, that's about it. I've been out of touch with a lot of people, so I'll be trying to pick that up again over the next few weeks. Hope all is well with everyone else and I will talk to you soon!

At work, woo. It's not too bad today, the queue is not backed up, so that's always nice.

I went to a Seafair party yesterday and drank just a little too much. Seth had to take care of me, which was SOO sweet of him. Apparently I expressed interest to him about having him fist me sometime... um... yea, that's how much I had to drink. LOL.

Things have been busy but good, I get a couple of days off after tomorrow, which I am really looking forward to.

Saw The Island, what a great movie. :-D Seriously, I don't care what critics are saying about it, I liked it a lot. That's definately on my purchase list when that is released on DVD.

Other than that, just been chuggin along. Lance and Steph came over last weekend, which was a blast, it was good to see them again. Went to AMC to see The Island with them and ran into Malia... I just think it's so funny how our paths keep crossing... it's almost scary.

That's about it. Seattle is awesome. However, I'm done with the heatwave now.
